Assess: Conduct Assessments Without Hassle
Survey research is a time consuming and complex process. In addition to the
tasks of preparing questions for the survey, it takes considerable effort to:
produce
a web- or other online-delivery mechanism for the assessment; create email invitations
for respondents; and deliver those invitation to respondents. The complexity
and time required for these tasks grows considerably with the size of the population
under investigation.
The Higher Education TechQual+ Project understands these concerns and has delivered,
free of charge to participating institutions, web-based mechanisms that shield participants
from the rigors and complexity of survey research. Using this web site, participating
institutions can:
- Design an assessment based on the core Higher Education TechQual+ Assessment instrument.
In addition to core assessment questions, participating institutions may add additional
items specific to services at their university. They may also add open-ended questions. Assessments are designed using intuitive and
easy-to-use web-based tools.
- Manage their respondents by either entering them individually, or, uploading them
in batch by submitting an XML file containing a list of respondents. When
creating or uploading respondents, participant institutions have the option to include
university-specific categories (such as faculty, year, campus, or other indicator)
which then can be used as the basis for creating filters when analyzing the results
of the assessment.
- Communicate the assessment to respondents, by using intuitive and easy-to-use web
tools to create email messages to respondents. Email messages may be send
to all respondents, or, different groups of respondents. Participating institutions
have full control over the content of email messages. Once submitted, the
bulk emails are delivered to respondents using email server infrastructure maintained
by the Higher Education TechQual+ Project. Communicating with respondents
is as easy as writing a message and hitting a submit button.
- Capture respondent surveys easily; respondents are redirected to the Higher
Education TechQual+ Project web site to complete their assessment. The project
web site provides all the web, server, and bandwidth infrastructure to support an
assessment with thousands of respondents. Assessments are unique to their
institution and are branded to reflect their institution's identity. Assessment
results are maintained anonymously within a database maintained by the Higher Education
TechQual+ Project Managers and the information remains confidential and anonymous.
Procedures guaranteeing confidentiality and anonymity have been reviewed and approved
by the Institutional Review Board of
Seaver College at
Pepperdine University.
- Review the results of their assessments using intuitive and easy-to-use reporting
tools available from the project web site. For more information on reporting
please review these pages on reporting and analysis of assessment
results.
