2008 Assessment Instrument Now Available
(March 10, 2008) The 2008 version
of the Higher Education TechQual+ Assessment instrument was made available
today to participating institutions. The 2008 instrument contains 18 items
grouped into three core areas proven to be important to faculty, students,
and staff through focus groups conducted at participating universities. These
focus areas are:
- Connectivity & Access, which measures the service quality of network access
and the ability to access online services.
- Technology & Technology Services, which measures the service quality of technology
services such as software applications or classroom technology.
- The End User Experience, which measures the service quality of training, technology
support, and the end user experience.
The complete 2008 assessment intrument may be obtained by
clicking here. New assessments designed after March 10, 2008 will
use this new instrument.
In addition, the Higher Education TechQual+ web site was modified to reflect new
functionality for institutions conducting assessments:
- Given that the 2008 instrument only contains 18 core items, as opposed to 30 in
previous years, new assessments designed after March 10, 2008 must include all core
sections of the 2008 instrument.
- Institutions may now create new items specific to their institution. Respondents
will be asked to grade these items using the same scales (minimum, desired, actual)
used for the 18 core items.
Participant conference calls to review the new assessment and web site features
are scheduled for March 10, 2008. For more information please contact
Dr. Timothy Chester, Project Manager for the Higher Education TechQual+
Project. Participants may request additional conference calls to review the
new assessment and web site functionality.
